Feb 4: Town Candidates Meet, Greet, and Sign Nomination Papers

Residents of South Hadley are invited to come and meet prospective candidates for Elected Town Offices from 10am to 12pm on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the main South Hadley Public Library on Canal Street. KYT is pleased to host this opportunity to bring voters and candidates together. Please join us to learn more about those who wish to serve our community and help facilitate our local election process by signing some nomination papers. Enjoy coffee and nibbles, and be part of the process putting a slate of local candidates on the ballot in April.

South Hadley’s annual Town Election will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, and any resident currently registered to vote in South Hadley is eligible to run for an elected position in town (a full list of offices on the 2023 Town election ballot follows below). To run for Town Office, prospective candidates must first obtain nomination papers from the Town Clerks’s office and then collect signatures from local registered voters.

  • Town-wide offices require 50 certified signatures
  • Town meeting members require 10 certified signatures from their precinct

By signing potential candidates’ nomination papers, registered voters enable candidates to get their names on the local election ballot, and voters can sign papers for more than one candidate. Signing nomination papers is not a vote for a candidate and doesn’t obligate you to vote for them in the election.

Nomination papers are available until February 16 from the Town Clerk’s office and must be submitted by February 21. For more information, see: https://www.southhadley.org/620/Elections.

Prospective candidates who wish to participate in the Town Candidate Meet and Greet on February 4 are asked to RSVP to Martha Terry at mterry@knowyourtown.org so we can have name tags prepared for you.
