2017 Trek Schedule
Guided Autumn Trek and Picnic to Lithia Springs Reservoir
Sunday, October 22, 2017 (Rain date 10.29.17)
Meet at 12:45pm (Trek begins at 1:00pm)
500 Amherst Road (Route 116), Granby (‘Hiker Parking’ dirt lot)
The brown parking lot sign will be marked by balloons. To reach the meeting location from South Hadley, go northward on Route 116 and watch for the sign/balloons on the left after passing Gagne’s Market and Pearl Street (also on the left). The trek will take approximately 40-45 minutes each way. The trails are a mix of dirt-and-leaf paths and gravel roads with several mild-moderate ascents and descents. Trails will contain exposed tree roots and other small tree debris. Participants are invited to bring their own “carry-in/carry-out” picnic items to snack on after reaching the reservoir. The trek is approximately 4 miles in length round-trip. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and safe footwear, and bring water and optional picnic snacks. No trash facilities are available at the reservoir and parking lot—all trash must be carried out and appropriately disposed of off-site. In the event of non-enjoyable or hazardous weather conditions, the Trek will be rescheduled to 10.29.17 at 1pm.
